Grasses, Greens, and Greenery Workshop - June 25, 2025

Join me for Grasses, Greens, and Greenery, an online watercolour workshop dedicated to mixing greens and painting foliage for watercolour florals. In this workshop, we’ll explore how to mix naturalistic, luminous, and moody greens, and bring them to life in stylized techniques for grasses and greenery using a variety of tools and expressive marks, including pirouette stroke leaves.
This session is ideal for Artists with some watercolour experience who want to push their work in watercolour florals further with expressive and confident mark-making.
WORKSHOP OUTLINE
• Welcome, Introductions & Studio Set-Up (10 Minutes)
• Mixing Greens (30 Minutes): Learn a variety of beautiful colour recipes for naturalistic, moody, and vibrant greens to use in watercolour floral paintings. You’re welcome to bring what paints you have and take notes on these recipes for later.
• Step-by-Step Guided Tutorial (30 Minutes): I will guide you through a variety of stylised techniques for grasses and greenery applying the four fundamental watercolour techniques (wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, dry-on-wet, dry-on-dry).
• Break (5 Minutes)
• Step-by-Step Guided Tutorial (30 Minutes): I will guide you through my signature pirouette stroke leaf technique to create expressive dynamic leaves in watercolour. Please note: This is an advanced technique done with a specific brush that may be difficult to source. I’ll break down the mechanics of the stroke so that you can experiment with the tools you already have.
• Q&A (15 Minutes)
Bonus! All workshop participants will have the option to submit one painting via email for written feedback following the workshop.
HOW TO PREPARE
To prepare for the workshop, you will receive an email 14 days in advance of the workshop with a materials guide that lists the supplies I will be using.

• Access: The Zoom registration link will be sent 14 days before the workshop.
• Cancellation Policy: No refunds. However, if you cancel at least 48 hours in advance, you will receive a credit toward a future workshop.
